ABSTRACT
In article I analyze the European Union Strategy for 2020–2025, which aims to
promote gender equality and combat violence and stereotypes related to it. Consequently,
it aims to provide women and men with equal opportunities in work and life. The article
compares statistical data on the implementation of the Strategy, using examples from Poland and Sweden, and the relevant literature. The research process is based on an
analytical model. Resources involved the analysis of reports, including existing data,
literature on the subject, and a review of information available on websites. Exploring
existing data allows for general conclusions. I emphasized that clear conclusions should
not be drawn solely on the basis of quantitative statistical data, as the presented results
may sometimes differ from the actual situation. I attempt to identify and explain the
possible causes. One explanation for the continued prevalence of violence against women
may be the continued cultural acceptance of certain violent behaviors.
