STRESZCZENIE
W doktrynie faszyzmu mit romanità zajmował ważne miejsce. Mit ten miał także
swój wymiar prawnoustrojowy związany ze swoistą reżimową interpretacją dziejów rzymskich
i wykorzystywany dla legitymizacji faszystowskiego porządku. Jak się wydaje, to właśnie
wymiar prawnoustrojowy zadecydował o miejscu i znaczeniu Cycerona w faszystowskiej
projekcji mitu romanità. Arpinata, od zawsze uchodzący za uosobienie republiki, nie mógł
cieszyć się jakąś szczególną rewerencją w systemie, którego pierwszoplanową inspiracją
było cesarstwo rzymskie. Cesarz z pełnią władzy opartej na sile stanowił dla totalitarnego
reżimu lepszy materiał do zagospodarowania i budowania pożądanych analogii, aniżeli
republika rzymska ze swą tradycją wolności, samorządem obywatelskim, poszanowaniem
dobra wspólnego i obywatelskich cnót. Pozycja ustrojowa Mussoliniego, a przy tym tak
charakterystyczna dla reżimu faszystowskiego statolatria z podporządkowaniem obywatela
państwu stały w sprzeczności z filozoficzno-polityczną refleksją Cycerona.
